Epic is bringing back the original Chapter 1 map in December and many of us have been waiting for this. Thanks to sources in the Fortnite community like ShiinaBR and HYPEX we know it’s officially happening. Don’t worry it won’t replace the current Fortnite Battle Royale mode. It’ll be a new separate option for players to play. Here’s what to expect from going back to Fortnite’s roots.
What is Fortnite OG Map?
Fortnite OG map is all about letting players re-live the original game’s Chapter 1 experience. This map was the foundation of what became a global gaming phenomenon and is loved by fans who played Fortnite in the early days. The decision to bring back this mode comes after the success of the recent OG season event which saw a record amount of players come back to the game in 2023. Now the original map will be a permanent mode so players can go back to where it all began.

Key Features of OG Mode:
One of the coolest things about OG mode is how Epic will keep it fresh. Instead of just one Chapter 1 version, they will rotate through all of the seasons from the original Chapter 1, starting from Season 1 and going all the way up to Season X. Once Season X is done the rotation will start again from the beginning. So players can play every phase of Fortnite’s early days and long-time fans can go back to their favorite moments.
OG mode will have:
- Classic Map: The map layout and locations will be exactly the same as Chapter 1, with no changes made in later chapters. Fans of the original game can go back to all the familiar landmarks and locations.
- Original Loot Pool: The loot in OG mode will only be Chapter 1 items, no weapons or items added later. This is old-school Fortnite.
- Battle Royale and Zero Build Options: In Chapter 1 the game only allowed building during battles. Now Epic is adding the popular Zero Build mode which allows players to battle without building. This is for those who just want to fight without building.
Why is Fortnite bringing back Chapter 1?
The massive player response to the OG season event last year showed there’s a huge demand for the classic map. Epic saw how much players wanted that old-school experience so they’re bringing it back as a permanent mode. With the Chapter 1 mode, Fortnite can now cater to new players who love the evolving Battle Royale and returning players who want the simpler classic experience.
When Will It Be Announced?
Epic will announce OG mode at The Game Awards on December 12, 2024. It’ll be right at the end of the current Remix season so you won’t have to wait long to get back on the classic map.
How is this different?
Unlike previous limited-time events, this OG mode will be around for the long term. It won’t replace the main Fortnite Battle Royale mode but will be available alongside it. So you can switch between the current Battle Royale and the original Chapter 1 modes whenever you want. Epic is respecting the past while still catering to the current.
What’s next for players?
Fortnite will continue to evolve and OG mode might become a permanent part of the game so players can go back to the roots anytime they want. Epic might also inspire other game developers to bring back their old versions for fans who want a bit of nostalgia.
Whether you’re a veteran Fortnite player or new to the game December’s OG mode will be a fresh and familiar experience. Get ready to go back to the beginning and relive the moments that made this game what it is today!
